unfortunately HAVE to go with Ibanez for this one due to the 16" radius. The brass sustain block was an immediate improvement to its tone. which is equivalent to a Floyd Rose Special. This guitar comes with the "Double locking trem". The ones that came with the Gotoh were too long. It fit into the cavity, only after I swapped the saddle locking screws with the ones from the old bridge. I do some research and decide I'm going to try the Gotoh 1996T. One of the holes for the screws holding the nut in place is stripped and causing the nut to creak and crack as I use the whammy bar.

When I get it home, the bridge and the studs are pretty beat up. Thankfully that customer is honest and returns it. They ship it to the wrong store, hundreds of miles away in the wrong state and send it home with a different customer. I stumble across this RG470AHM at a decent enough price. I didn't want to spend the amount of money I put into my Strat and it's upgrades though so off to Guitar Center's used section I go. The Gotoh was a drop in replacement as I left the OFR studs and claw in place.I decided I needed a backup for my Player Strat HSS Floyd. The quality of the OFR is severely lacking in comparison to the Gotoh, in my opinion of course. I was already familiar with the quality of the Gotoh as it came stock in my Suhr Modern Pro. I purchased the Gotoh to replace the Original Floyd Rose that came stock in my PRS Custom 24 Floyd. I’m surprised the large guitar companies don’t use these more often on their products. Fine craftsmanship and stability, coupled with affordability, makes this tremolo likely one of the finest on the market today. The Gotoh 1996t is a superb piece of music equipment. I had a Schaller Made in Germany Floyd on this guitar prior and the Gotoh is much nicer - the tone is superior, clarity is better, and it's lighter which means it feels more like a Strat trem and only requires two springs. Great budget friendly alternative to the original, best of all the cheaper options to the original.įor me this is the best Floyd Rose style trem on the market, period. I have a few guitars with original German Floyd Rose Tremelo’s, and I like these better! Regardless, these are by far for the money, the best Tremolos that you can get.! I’ve purchased seven or more of these in every color from Philadelphia luthier.

It is not made from cheap metals that kill tone. This is a highly precise, well built unit. The unit overall is built rocksolid and has a very high quality look. Bought this for a project guitar and I am extremely happy! The quality is outstanding and the stud inserts are thick and beefy.
